Media Advisory - In cooperation with McGill University and the University of Toronto - International specialists meet to discuss Photodynamic Therapy in the treatment and prevention of cancer

MONTREAL, May 30 - You are invited to attend a Photodynamic
Therapy Summit organized in cooperation with McGill University and the
University of Toronto to discuss the treatment and prevention of cancer.
Sponsored by Axcan Pharma, the Symposium will be held on June 3 & 4, 2005 at
the Centre Mont-Royal, room Cartier II, 2200 Mansfield. It will feature
leading scientists from Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an innovative treatment involving the
combination of a photoactive drug and light from a laser. PDT has been
approved for the treatment of lung cancer, bladder cancer and cervical cancer
as well as High-Grade Dysplasia (HGD) associated with Barrett's esophagus.
Several PDT treatments are under development for other indications including
for the treatment of breast cancer, brain cancer and liver cancer.
